Brockton Carolina (Fernandes) Miranda, 97, of Brockton died Friday, April 11, 2008, at Caritas Good Samaritan Medical Center in Brockton after a period of failing health. She was the wife of the late Jose Miranda. Born July 25, 1910, in Cape Verde, she was a daughter of the late Joao Fernandes and Carlota DePina Fernandes. Mrs. Miranda was devoted to her family and was a devoted Catholic. She was a member of S. Joao Baptista. She is survived by her children, Maria Miranda Azancoth of France, Maria Miranda Teixeira of Holland, Carlota Miranda Rodrigues of Holland, Eugenio Miranda of Brockton, Fatima Miranda Goncalves and the late Jose Miranda; she is also survived by 21 grandchildren; many great-grandchildren; and two great great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Saturday at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton, at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
