Eugenia L. Fortes

FORTES, EUGENIA L., 75, of Pleasant Street, a former employee of the Holy Name of Jesus Church, died Thursday morning, April 10, 2008, at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Ms. Fortes was born Feb. 12, 1934, in Brava, Cape Verde, a daughter of the late Louisa Conceicao and Victor Lopes.

She leaves her children, Antonio Fortes of Providence, Joseph Fortes of Florida, John F. Gomes of East Providence and Sonny R. Fortes of Providence, Charlene M. Fortes of East Providence and Matilda R. Fortes also of East Providence; 14 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; her sisters, Maria Lima of Pawtucket and Julia Fernandes of New Bedford; her brothers, Manuel Santos of Florida and Eduino Lopes of Mass. She was the mother of the late Louisa and Ortencia Fortes, and sister of the late Francisco Fortes, John Fortes, Jose Lopes, Joaquin Lopes and Anna Coelho.

Her funeral will be Wednesday at 8:30 a.m. from the REBELLO FUNERAL HOME, 901 Broadway, East Providence, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at the Holy Name of Jesus Church, 99 Camp Street, Providence.
