The considerable increase in the number of Capeverdeans deported (mostly youths) is an issue of concern for the government as well as for the society at large. From 5 deportees in 1992 to over 130 deportees in 2007 and rising… Since 63% of these deportees are from the USA, how do you suggest it can be prevented?

Deportation is neither a crime nor justice. Explaining....
NOT A CRIME --- If a person, a young boy or girl is in this country of opportunity, is not taking advantage of the opened doors to a better life, instead they engage in crimes of all kinds, risking and making the lives of others impossible, America as well as other countries have all the rights to expel them from their land trying to protect their own environments. However, NOT A JUSTICE --- because by doing this, they are throwing the rubbish in our country to mess it up and turn it upside down.  Our country that was once safe and secure, today it’s turning into a camp for criminals and delinquents to spend their vacations. It is very unjust and sad for innocent capeverdeans, because they have to deal with this situation in Cape Verde. Their lives are frightened, for they don’t know when/where one of them will be a victim of those criminals. All because parents fail to control or educate their kids about paths they should take in life to become a better person (or they don’t have time to do so). Our government in CV is faulty as well, for not taking action. How can a person commit a crime in one country and is allowed to live among others as if nothing had ever happened? The only way to solve this problem or at least decrease the numbers, would be for the government to receive them straight to jail, give them no chance to stay without punishment and corrupt the society more than what it is already…

I AGREE that it is not a crime, but like you mentioned by deporting any criminal to their homeland you are giving them more freedom to do worse, specially when they get the help of the family.  Something needs to be done sooner than later.....
