Laurence E. Pina

NEW BEDFORD — Laurence E. "Larry" Pina, 46, of New Bedford died May 30, 2008, at St. Luke's Hospital after a long illness.
Born in Wareham, the son of Thomas J. and Arcenia Mae (Correia) Pina of New Bedford, he lived in New Bedford most of his life. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of the Assumption Church.
Mr. Pina was employed as a chef with several local restaurants. He also served as a crew member and chef aboard the Ernestina and formerly managed halfway houses in Fitchburg and Worcester.
Survivors include his parents; a son, Jaamal Silva of New Bedford; a daughter, Kaylee Silva of New Bedford; a brother, Thomas L. Pina of New Bedford; 3 sisters, Carolyn Houston of Dayton, OH, Maria Pina Crosley of Las Vagas and Rosalie Pina Fairhurst of New Bedford; numerous nieces and nephews.
His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. Patrick's Cemetery, Wareham. Visiting hours Monday 4-8 PM in the Saunders-Dwyer Home For Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
