Daniel DosSantos

New Bedford Daniel DosSantos, 63, of New Bedford, died Monday, May 12, 2008, at Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston after a brief illness. He was the husband of the late Maria Goncalves. Born March 1, 1945, in Fogo, Cape Verde, he was a son of Mary Barros of Brockton and the late Fortunato Santos. Mr. DosSantos was a retired police officer at the Bridgewater State College for 20 years. He was a communicant and a eucharistic minister at Our Lady of Assumption Church in New Bedford. He was a member of the Bisca Club. He is survived by his children, Lucinda Teixeira, Lucinia Sheffield, Maria Vieira, John Duarte, Daniel Soares and Tim DosSantos. He is also survived by 11 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and several brothers and sisters. Funeral from the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Friday at 8 a.m. followed by a funeral Mass in St. Edith Stein/St. Edward Parish, 71 East Main St., Brockton, at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery, Brockton.
