|
Kilda M. Filkins NEW BEDFORD — Kilda M. (Burgo) Filkins, 86, of New Bedford died September 29, 2008 at St. Luke's Hospital. She was the wife of the late Frederick E. Filkins, Sr.
Born in New Bedford, the daughter of the late Leopold and Rose (Rodrigues) Burgo, she lived in New Bedford all of her life.
She enjoyed knitting, crocheting and watching soap opera's.
Survivors include her 8 children, Ronald Burgo, Louise DeBurgo, Frederick Filkins, Jr., Glory Costa, Leopoldo Filkins, Roy Filkins, Lillian Filkins and Linda Wilde; 6 brothers and sisters, Isabel Duarte, Marie Smith, Manuel Burgo, Beldwin Burgo, Laura Silva and Anna Silva; 25 grandchildren, 28 great-grandchildren, 3 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
She was the mother of the late Johnny and Beldwin Filkins and sister of the late Leopold, Arthur, John, Alfred and Joseph Burgo.
Her Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Thursday at 9 AM in Our Lady of the Assumption Church. Burial will follow in St. John's Cemetery. Visiting hours will be on Wednesday from 4-9 PM at the Saunders-Dwyer Home for Funerals, 495 Park St., New Bedford.
