Mildred Baptista

WAREHAM — Mildred "Millie" (Gomes) Baptista, 76, of Wareham, died August 25, 2008, in the Sippican Nursing Home, Marion. She was the daughter of the late John and Eugenia (Andrade) Gomes.

She was born in New Bedford and lived in San Francisco before moving to Wareham in 1995.

Mrs. Baptista worked for the U.S.P.S., for many years before retiring.

She enjoyed journaling and she was an avid fan of the Boston Red Sox.

Survivors include 3 daughters, Carla G. Texiera and her husband, Steven of Wareham, Jacquelyn M. Grace of Onset and E. Charlee Baptista of Wareham; a brother, Marcelino "Charlie" Gomes and his wife, Priscilla of New Bedford; a sister, Lillian Gomes of Berkley, CA; 3 grandchildren; 3 great-grandchildren; and several nephews and nieces. She was the sister of the late Nora Harris and Gladys Gomes.

Her funeral and burial service were private. Arrangements are by the Chapman, Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 2599 Cranberry Hwy., Wareham.
