Brockton Manuel R. Amilcar Miranda, 48, of Brockton, died Thursday, Aug. 14, 2008, at Signature Healthcare Brockton Hospital. Born May 2, 1960, in Fogo, Cape Verde, he was a son of Ilda (Mendes) Mir-anda of Brockton and the late Lidio Ramos Miranda. Mr. Miranda was the supervisor of the interpreters at Brockton Hospital. He was a member of the Brockton Public School Superintendents Advisory Council, member of the Cape Verdean Association, chair and founding member of the humanitarians Council of the Cape Verdean Association and producer of Brockton local cable television program, Arco-Iris. He had been a Brockton resident since 1986 and enjoyed doing community work, sports and dancing. He is survived by his wife, Eugenia (Lopes) Miranda; his children, Kenny Barros, Ayla Santos, Jeselene Andrade and Sandra Miranda; his mother, Ilda (Mendes) Miranda; his brothers and sisters, Henrique Canuto, Licinio, Jubeleu, Joaquim and Lidio Miranda, Antonio Rodrigues, Manuel Miranda, Maria S. Rodrigues, Erminda Goncalves, Maria Miranda, Maria Terasa Miranda, Erminda Miranda and Marcelina Canuto. Funeral services will be held in the Russell & Pica Funeral Home, 165 Belmont St. (Rte. 123), Brockton, Saturday at 9 a.m. Interment will follow in Melrose Cemetery, Brockton.
